Manual roll call quietly taxes every class — the paper sheet, the names read aloud, the first ten minutes gone. Phys Attendance replaces that ritual with a single scan: the teacher shows a QR code, students check in from their phones, and the register fills itself in real time. I built it as a lean web app for the Faculty of Physics & Physics Engineering at VNU-HCM.
What it does
- →Instant QR scanning — dynamic, time-limited codes so a check-in can’t be shared, screenshotted, or reused.
- →Secure verification — multi-factor validation including location and an ID-photo capture to confirm the student is really present.
- →Rich analytics — attendance history and reports per student and per class, with two roles: a teacher portal and a student login.
A companion to Physoom
Where Physoom runs the faculty’s rooms and schedules, Phys Attendance handles the day-to-day roll call that sits on top of them — the same lean philosophy, one class session at a time. It is built with Next.js and React and deployed on Vercel.
Attendance should cost a second, not the first ten minutes of the lesson.
